About the volunteering opportunity
We are looking for volunteers to provide vacation care for children and young people with disabilities. Together with a full-time staff member, you will organize a colourful and varied vacation program. We go on day trips in the Stuttgart area, do handicrafts, play games or cook together.
The group size is usually between 6-8 children, the supervising team always varies between 4-6 people depending on the need for assistance. An experienced professional is always present!
Requested periods:
- Whitsun: 21.05.-29.05. (without public holidays)
- Summer I: 29.07.-02.08.
- Summer II: 05.08.-09.08.
- Summer III: 19.08.-23.08.
- Summer IV: 02.09.-06.09.
- Fall: 28.10.-31.10.
Your Tasks
Your task is to supervise individual children and young people, play with them and help with their care. This does not include care tasks. This is done by the professional present.
What's needed
We require proof of your measles immunity as well as access to your extended certificate of good conduct (you will receive an application from us).
There are no other requirements. You just need to be open to new things and have patience and empathy.
Time required
Childcare takes place on vacation days from 9 am to 4 pm.
On Mondays (or the first day of care) we meet at 8 am for a team meeting. This gives us enough time to discuss the planned activities and to point out the special needs of some children/young people. On the other days we meet at 8.45 am.
It makes sense to keep the day free until 4.30 pm, so that we can discuss the day afterwards if necessary.
Important notice
For your work during the vacations, you will receive an expense allowance of €50/day from us.We also offer in-house and online training for all our volunteers.
