Visiting lonely elderly people

Herz+Ohr (Heart+Ear) is committed to helping lonely and isolated older people in Wolfsburg who are looking for someone to talk to. We bring them together with volunteers who would like to give their time and build trusting relationships. Through regular visits and joint activities, we want to fill both the people we visit and the visitors with more enjoyment of life.

Your Tasks

The aim is to have a good time together. You can drink coffee together, play board games, go for a walk, go to a café, visit a museum or theater, etc. You decide what you feel like doing and what is possible, as some older people have limited mobility.

Household support, advice and care are excluded.

What's needed

You should be friendly, communicative and open.

Time required

You can decide flexibly with your visiting partner when and how often you want to meet. Our volunteers visit an elderly person once a week.

Important notice

Every two months there is a group meeting with all volunteers where we exchange ideas.
 

We offer our volunteers further training, once a year there is a day trip, we organize cooking evenings, exercise games with senior citizens and a Christmas dinner with the whole foundation team.

The NEULAND Foundation Wolfsburg would like to improve the living situation in the neighborhoods of Wolfsburg, to take responsibility for the city and in particular to promote social interaction, joint dialogs between the young and old generations and the social participation of socially disadvantaged population groups. To this end, it is involved in projects and ideas relating to living conditions, the living environment and social interaction in Wolfsburg's residential neighborhoods. The goal: to create a colorful, harmonious neighborhood life and promote social development.
