About the volunteering opportunity

The Ausbildungsbrücke places volunteer mentors with Berlin trainees in the health and service sectors. Completing a professional training course is associated with a variety of requirements for trainees. For this reason, especially in Berlin, too many young people still drop out of their training prematurely. The "Ausbildungsbrücke" would like to use mentoring to take a preventive approach and strengthen the trainees through long-term and individual support, thus enabling them to successfully complete their training.

Your Tasks

As a mentor, you will meet regularly with your apprentice, who we have selected for you in a careful matching process. Depending on the situation, you will help the apprentice to cope with his or her learning workload, to overcome conflicts in the training company, or to master personal challenges. Where or how you will meet regularly in Berlin will be determined by the two of you when you first get to know each other. We will accompany you throughout the mentorship and offer you an initial qualification as well as comprehensive further training opportunities.

What's needed

Volunteers must be native German speakers.

It is important to be willing to get involved with young people and to present an extended police clearance certificate, which we will gladly help you to apply for.

Important notice

Measures against corona
The health of our volunteers is very important to us, which is why we implement corona protection measures based on current infection protection regulations in the project: We have completely switched our support and event offerings to hybrid and can be perceived as such. However, at present (as of July 2021) we are again offering the option of being accompanied through the matching process in presence. In the events for our volunteers, we make sure to only hold necessary events physically in presence. Furthermore, there is a constantly updated room usage concept (ventilation and minimum number of people) in the rooms we provide for the mentoring meetings.

Where?

Ausbildungsbrücke

Ausbildungsbrücke places volunteer mentors with Berlin trainees to help the young people successfully complete their training. Our mentors help the trainees to cope with their learning workload, to overcome conflicts in the training company, to clarify difficulties with authorities or to master personal challenges. We accompany our mentors through the entire mentoring process and offer comprehensive further training opportunities and supervision. The Training Bridge is part of the "State Mentoring Programme", funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Work, Integration and Women's Issues and has been successfully implemented by the Diakonie Berlin-Brandenburg as part of the Berlin Trainee Project since the beginning of 2013.
